How to Get Listed on Google's First Page?

Unless your web site shows up on Google's first page, the chances of your site being found by customers and clients is zero.

Over 83% of all Google users only look at the first page of Google search results. That means that even if your website is at the top of page two, less than 20% of your prospective clients will be exposed to your website.

Getting on Google's first page is important if you want to get more website visitors. How long does it take to get listed on Google's first result page?

If you follow basic SEO principles and are prepared to work hard, getting listed on the first page in Google's search results depends on a number of factors:

  • Identifying profitable keywords
  • How much competition there is for your chosen keywords
  • The number of pages your website has
  • How much keyword rich and unique content your website has
  • How well you use keywords on your website
  • How may incoming links you have
  • Your website's domain name and age

Make sure your website is the best for the services and products you offer. Add regular features, fresh articles and special offers, give your visitors good reason to return to your website.

Old websites have an advantage

It takes some time until Google shows new websites in the search results. Although you can submit your website to Google, Google will only index your website if other websites link to your website.

You have to earn Google's trust before your website will get lasting high rankings. A new website can get good rankings for less competitive keywords but it usually takes about 6 months to gain the minimum level of trust that is necessary to get high rankings.

Search engine optimization

It can be relatively easy to get top rankings on search engines if you have an established website that blocked Google by mistake (a broken robots.txt file or problems with the website navigation).

Make sure that it is as easy as possible for search engines to index your web pages. The better search engines can parse your pages, the more likely it is that your web pages will be added to the index.

Optimize the content of your web pages to make sure that your pages will be found for the right keywords.

Keywords and competitors

The keywords that you target are a very important factor. The more competitive your keywords are, the longer you have to wait and the more backlinks you need.

If the websites that are ranked in the top 10 results for your keyword all have thousands of backlinks and thousands of pages then it's not likely that your website will be able to get in the top 10 results if it has 10 backlinks and 20 pages.

Start with very targeted multiple word keyphrases and then proceed to the more competitive keywords when your website has good content and inbound links.

The better the backlinks, the faster your site will be listed

The more backlinks a website has, the quicker Google will pick up the changes on your website. If your website has great content but only a few backlinks, then it won't get high rankings.

High rankings on Google take some time. You have to optimize your web pages and you have to get good inbound links. Without these two factors, it is not possible to get high rankings on Google.

The number of inbound links is a very important factor. If you have optimized web pages but no links, then you have to build these links and you have to wait longer. If your website has a lot of inbound links then you will get high rankings quickly if you optimize your pages.

When it comes to mastering search engine optimization on Google, there are a few things you must understand first. SEO on Google is actually very easy once you have a system and a set of procedures to follow in order to rank your website.

Ranking on page one in Google and all the other major search engines is essential. If your website is not there you are simply loosing business. Internet users don't spend hours looking for what they need. A top ten ranking in Google will get you a lot of traffic and provide you with thousands of highly targeted prospective clients.

First page Google rank is every website owner's dream. The truth is if your website isn't on the first page of Google it is virtually invisible. Less than 20% of searchers go beyond the first page of Google search results. If your website is not there, it is unlikely that your website will ever be seen.

While search engine optimization is important and worth paying for, there are many things you can do to optimize your website yourself if you can't afford to pay an SEO expert. Just remember that optimizing your website takes time and you are unlikely to see immediate results unless you have identified a keyword that has little effective competition.

Over 8 months ago and with no budget I developed my first site and listed it to as many free online directories as I could. I have consistently been receiving between 40 and 90 visitors per day, but little business. I have concluded that it is now less effort to physically hand deliver business cards and flyers to my customers and therefore use google as a business name directory and not an advertising tool.

I just finished my first blog and my pages are not ranking anywhere near the first page of Google. But I know that takes time to get to Google's #1 spot. I believe this is the case because I have only started getting links. I guess we just need to be patient and the results will come.

I’m fairly new to SEO and all the information has been overwhelming. I find that I spend more time thinking about what I should do than doing it. As you said, it may take some time, before you finish all the necessary steps, but it’s definitely worth it. Thank you so much!

Organic search results are always better in a long term, more cost efficient and more rewarding. For one, you are not paying for every click, the second, I think people tend to click on the first few real search results because they know the sponsored listings are just ads.
